writer. director. storyteller.
A graduate of Ryerson University’s renowned School of Image Arts, Tyler Cowan’s multidisciplinary career has been founded on his ability to highlight the heart and authenticity of his subjects. Whether it be narrative, documentary, or commercial, Tyler’s employment of striking, cinematic storytelling—regardless of the subject matter—has made him popular with clients, both corporate and non-profit alike.
An accomplished writer, director and editor, Tyler’s broadcast work has been featured on both Canadian and American television—most recently, a nationwide campaign for Operation Smile Canada showcasing the organization’s work in Colombia. A two-time Norman Jewison Award winner, Mr. Cowan has also served as writer, director and producer on several of his own films, including The Last Stop—the award winning short recognized by Seattle’s Official Best of Fest Organization as one of 2010’s top films. Commercially, Tyler has directed and edited work for The Hudson’s Bay Co., House & Home, Ontario SPCA, CAMH, Heart & Stroke, World Wildlife Fund, Covenant House, Justin Trudeau, and more.
A Toronto boy at heart, Tyler’s training continues through his love for travel, adventure and telling stories.
